Thailand has officially ended the 60-day visa-free entry scheme for 93 countries and territories, including India. The move is aimed at strengthening national security and preventing illegal long term stays and unauthorized foreign run businesses. As a result, Indian travelers will now return to the Visa on Arrival system that existed earlier.
Under the revised rules, Indian tourists will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a maximum of 15 days through Visa on Arrival. Travelers will also need to pay a visa fee of 2,000 Thai Baht at immigration checkpoints. The new policy will come into effect 15 days after its official publication in Thailand’s Royal Gazette. Authorities clarified that travelers entering before the implementation date will still receive the previously approved 60 day stay benefits.
