The Telangana Civil Supplies Department has strengthened its Enforcement and Vigilance wing by deploying 28 highly trained commandos from the Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units. Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Ravindra held a high-level meeting at the Civil Supplies Bhavan and briefed the newly inducted personnel on their responsibilities. The commandos have received special training on departmental rules and legal provisions related to essential commodities. The Commissioner said the state procured a record 15.4 million metric tonnes of paddy during KMS 2025-26, with the government spending around Rs 40,000 crore on procurement to support farmers.
The commandos will operate as special task force teams under the Enforcement and Vigilance wing and conduct surprise inspections across the state, particularly at mills with pending rice dues to the government. The department plans to use their specialised field capabilities to strengthen monitoring and enforcement. Commissioner Stephen Ravindra warned that diversion of government funds and violations of rules would not be tolerated. He said criminal cases would be registered and strict legal action taken against millers found violating government regulations.
