BRS MLC Kavitha said GO 150 introduced by the Telangana government has created concern among NEET aspirants and their parents. She argued that treating students who have studied in Telangana for four years as locals would disadvantage students from the state. According to her, the provision could result in around 1,600 medical seats going to students from other states. She also pointed out that Telangana is already losing 15 percent of seats under the NEET system and demanded that students from the state be given priority in medical colleges established for them.
Kavitha said that if GO 150 cannot be withdrawn immediately, its provisions should at least be amended to consider only those who have studied in Telangana for seven years as local candidates. Calling the issue time-sensitive, she urged the Chief Minister and officials to take immediate action. She warned that a delay of even a week could adversely affect around 1,500 students and demanded steps to safeguard opportunities for Telangana students in medical education.
