Telangana to Provide Pensions for All Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Patients

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to sanction pensions to all eligible Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia patients in the state. Chairing a review meeting with Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka, the Chief Minister instructed officials to immediately identify eligible beneficiaries and ensure that pension distribution begins from August 15. He said the financial assistance would provide much-needed relief to affected families. He also directed officials to ensure adequate pension coverage for widows, single women, weavers and toddy tappers, and to provide pensions without delay to the spouses of deceased persons with disabilities.

The Chief Minister also reviewed rural development initiatives and instructed officials to strengthen monitoring of development works at the mandal level through MPDOs. He directed that Mandal Parishad meetings be conducted once every 45 days with the participation of MPs, MLAs and MLCs. Revanth Reddy further instructed that every village should be connected with a blacktop road and every Gram Panchayat should have its own office building based on population. He also ordered the immediate release of funds to Panchayats where elections have not yet been conducted to ensure sanitation and other essential services continue without interruption.
