The Uttar Pradesh government is expanding its Project Praveen initiative with the objective of equipping students with practical skills and improving their employment opportunities. The programme combines regular education with vocational training to help students develop skills that can support their future careers. For the 2026–27 academic year, the government has set a target of training 2 lakh students across 515 schools.
The initiative will also focus on financial literacy and entrepreneurship through partnerships with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD). As part of a special training programme, 2,672 girls from 71 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas will receive additional skill development support. Students who successfully complete the training will be awarded certificates aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), giving formal recognition to the skills they acquire.
