Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inspected agricultural fields inundated by cyclone-induced rains in Kothanavarasapuram village of Narsapuram mandal in West Godavari district. During his visit, he interacted with affected farmers, listened to their concerns and assured them of the government’s support. He enquired about the extent of crop insurance coverage among farmers and explained that insurance could help compensate for crop losses caused by natural disasters and other factors. He said the government was taking steps to provide insurance coverage for every acre of farmland through the e-Crop system. He also highlighted the role of input subsidies in compensating farmers for losses. Chandrababu urged farmers to insure their crops and said the coalition government was committed to protecting them during difficult times. He added that lasting solutions to farmers’ problems could be achieved with their cooperation.
Farmers brought to the Chief Minister’s attention the lack of adequate water flow in some irrigation canals, which was causing difficulties. Chandrababu said ₹3,000 crore had been allocated for the modernisation of canals in the Delta region and assured them that the issue would be resolved soon. He also enquired about any loss of life due to the cyclone. Local residents said there had been no casualties, crediting the government’s precautionary measures and timely alerts. They added that fallen trees and electricity poles had been cleared promptly. The Chief Minister inspected electricity restoration works and appreciated the efforts of workers and power department staff. He also visited damaged coconut plantations along the Narsapuram-Matrevu route. Chandrababu encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming, saying it could increase demand for their produce. A woman farmer informed him that she was cultivating nine varieties of grains through natural farming on four-and-a-half acres.
