Telangana has recorded a new all-time high in electricity demand. At 10:41 AM on September 9, the state’s peak power demand touched 19,543 MW. The state’s power utilities successfully met the record demand through coordinated efforts. Compared with the 15,906 MW recorded on the same day last year, the peak demand has increased by 23 per cent this year.
The latest figure also surpassed the previous record of 19,506 MW recorded on March 27, 2026, within just six months. With electricity requirements continuing to rise across the state, the government is focusing on advance planning, infrastructure expansion and strengthening power generation, transmission and distribution systems to efficiently manage the growing demand.
