Former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao has alleged that the Congress government is neglecting irrigation projects built with the aim of providing water to one crore acres of farmland. He enquired about farmers’ views on the condition of these projects and the availability of irrigation water. A group of nine BRS leaders, led by Peddapalli and Godavarikhani town presidents Uppu Rajkumar and Boddu Ravinder, undertook a cycle rally from Medigadda in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to Kondapochamma Sagar. After covering around 400 kilometres, the leaders met KCR on Wednesday evening at his farmhouse in Erravalli village of Markook mandal in Siddipet district. KCR felicitated and congratulated them on completing the journey.
During the meeting, the leaders shared their interactions with farmers in several villages along the route. They told KCR that farmers were complaining about the lack of irrigation water from reservoirs, inadequate electricity supply and the shortage of urea. According to the leaders, farmers expressed dissatisfaction with the Congress government for allegedly failing to maintain irrigation projects and said they would teach the ruling party a lesson in the upcoming elections. KCR reportedly urged party workers to work collectively for the development of the BRS and expressed confidence that the party would return to power. Kashi Paka Vasu, Arepalli Suresh, Muthyam Laxman Goud, Parupalli Anil, Mekala Naveen, Gundaboyina Srinivas and Mahender were among those who took part in the cycle rally.
