Commuters travelling by both Hyderabad Metro Rail and TSRTC buses in the ‘CURE’ region are likely to get relief, with the state government reportedly planning a significant reduction in the prices of their combined travel passes. As per the proposed revision, the daily pass could be reduced from ₹400 to ₹325, while the monthly pass may come down from ₹8,500 to either ₹4,000 or ₹4,500. The Metro Rail and RTC managements have reportedly held discussions and reached an understanding on the revised fares. An upcoming meeting involving the state Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, the RTC Managing Director and the Metro Rail adviser is expected to provide clarity on the final prices. The revised fares are likely to come into effect from Diwali, subject to an official announcement.
The existing combined pass prices reportedly failed to attract the expected response from commuters, particularly because the monthly pass was priced at ₹8,500. Following the state government’s directions to reduce the fares, RTC Managing Director Nagireddy held discussions with Metro Rail adviser NVS Reddy. Under the proposals, the RTC may receive ₹1,000 from each monthly pass, while the Metro may get ₹3,000 or ₹3,500, depending on the final price. For the daily pass priced at ₹325, the proposed allocation is ₹75 for the RTC and ₹250 for the Metro. The final prices and implementation date are yet to be officially confirmed.
