Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk's condition has reportedly worsened on the 19th day of his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of NEET students. According to doctors, his blood pressure and blood sugar levels have fallen to concerning levels, while he has lost over nine kilograms during the protest. Despite his declining health, Wangchuk remains under round-the-clock medical supervision and continues his fast.
In a video message released to his supporters, Wangchuk urged them not to request that he end his hunger strike. Instead, he appealed to people to join the peaceful 'Chalo Sansad' march scheduled for July 20 and continue raising their demands through democratic means. Wangchuk has been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Several student leaders are also continuing their hunger strike, with some reportedly hospitalised due to health complications.
