

SHE Teams, operating under the Women Safety Wing, stepped up surveillance and security measures during the Ashada Bonalu celebrations across Hyderabad to protect women and children. Personnel in plain clothes were deployed at temples, procession routes, bus stops, metro stations, markets and other crowded areas. Using video surveillance, the teams identified and apprehended people involved in harassment and other offences. Officials said 678 accused persons were caught with evidence based on 122 complaints received during the festivities.
Cases were registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Hyderabad City Police Act. DCP of the Women and Child Safety Wing, Dr. Lavanya, said 25 people were sentenced by courts to imprisonment and fined following effective investigation and swift legal action. Another 26 were fined Rs.1,050 each and ordered to perform community service. The SHE Teams also conducted more than 400 awareness programmes and over 110 surveillance operations focusing on women’s safety, cybercrime and emergency helplines.
