As people celebrate Diwali, medical experts have issued important health advisories regarding excessive sweet consumption and rising air pollution. Doctors recommend eating sweets in moderation, as consuming too much sugar may increase the risk of health problems. They have also warned that air pollution can have a significant impact on health, particularly among children and older adults.
Experts have stated that an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 250 can cause pollution exposure comparable to smoking 10–15 cigarettes a day. People with respiratory conditions are advised to avoid going outdoors in the morning and evening, when pollution levels may be high. Doctors also recommend wearing N95 masks whenever stepping outside to reduce exposure to polluted air.
