The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has entered its fourth year with no clear end in sight. According to British intelligence estimates, around 500,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the conflict began in 2022, highlighting the severe human cost of the prolonged war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier stated that Ukraine has lost around 55,000 soldiers.
Reports suggest Russia has faced challenges in troop training and battlefield preparedness, while Ukraine has intensified its defense using Western-supplied missile systems, artillery, and advanced drones. UK intelligence also claims Russia is struggling to protect its forces effectively, leading to higher battlefield casualties. Meanwhile, Russia has reportedly introduced incentives such as debt waivers for new military recruits to boost enlistment under a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin.
