Former Intelligence DG AB Venkateswara Rao has raised a series of questions against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister over the ongoing controversy surrounding the APPSC. In a post on X, he questioned why a chairman was not appointed for nearly a year despite the government being aware of the issue. He also questioned the alleged granting of “focal postings” to RDOs and SDPOs before their probation was declared, and alleged that the postings were not changed even after the High Court’s directions until contempt proceedings were threatened.
Rao further alleged that the government’s Advocate General had earlier defended affidavits filed by former official Gautam Sawang and claimed that the government had reached an understanding with those appointed under the previous system. He alleged that the investigation progressed only after court intervention and questioned the government’s stand after the alleged irregularities came to light. Rao also raised questions about Gautam Sawang’s earlier cases and alleged that the present government was again protecting him from the APPSC controversy, asking the Chief Minister to clarify what “deal” had been reached.
