Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the banking and financial sectors must become key partners in the state’s goal of building a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Speaking at the 50th State-Level Bankers’ Meeting at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan, he said government spending alone would not be enough and stressed the need for large-scale private investment, strong financial institutions, deeper financial markets and innovative funding mechanisms.
Bhatti said bank performance should be assessed not just by loan targets but by the development generated through credit, including new industries, employment, agricultural productivity and rural incomes. He stressed that eligible farmers should receive loans when they need them instead of having to approach banks repeatedly. Banks should take credit services to farmers and bring dairy, fisheries, horticulture, oil palm, food processing and other allied sectors into the formal lending system. As of June 2026, banks had extended ₹52,337 crore in agricultural loans, but timely delivery of credit remains crucial, he said.
