Revanth Reddy Takes Serious Note of Massive Dump Yard Near IKEA, Deloitte in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reportedly taken serious note of the massive construction-waste dump near IKEA and opposite Deloitte in Hyderabad’s IT corridor. The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has been directed to identify the organisations responsible for dumping construction debris and take appropriate action. Officials’ preliminary inquiry reportedly indicated that waste from three nearby high-rise buildings had accumulated at the site. The dump, spread across about 13 acres, is estimated to contain nearly 15 lakh metric tonnes of waste. Recent reports have also highlighted the large construction-debris mounds in the IKEA–Deloitte stretch and CMC’s efforts to scientifically clear and recycle them.

CMC Commissioner G. Srujana had earlier inspected the site and initiated steps towards its scientific remediation. Two options are being considered: transporting the debris to construction-waste processing facilities in Shamshabad or Jeedimetla, or setting up a recycling facility at the site itself. Officials believe transporting the material could increase costs, traffic movement and pollution. The reported proposals are expected to involve substantial expenditure, while the administration is also examining whether the agencies responsible for the dumping can be made responsible for the recycling and remediation work.
