Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the BJP’s Maha Padyatra in Hyderabad, carrying the national flag during the march from Gunfoundry to MJ Market. The procession covered approximately 1.5 kilometres. Before the march, he offered prayers at the Sri Bhagyalakshmi Temple and shared a Telugu post on X, saying he considered it a blessing to worship at the temple. He also said he prayed for the people to enjoy peace, prosperity and happiness. Addressing a BJP public meeting later, Shah began his speech with the slogans ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. He called for a BJP government in Telangana and urged people to bring down the Congress government in the state.
Shah said democracy must be protected and lawlessness brought to an end. Recalling the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, he said Hyderabad would not have become part of India without him. He alleged that the Congress’s ‘Vote Bachao’ rally was aimed at protecting infiltrators rather than safeguarding voters. Criticising the Congress and the INDIA bloc over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Shah said the exercise was removing the names of deceased and duplicate voters. He asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had won elections with public support, not because of SIR. Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of EVMs, Shah questioned how Congress governments came to power in Telangana, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh if the machines were unreliable. He also said Rahul Gandhi would never become the Prime Minister of India.
