Raise Per Capita Income.. Chandrababu’s Key Advice to Collectors

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government has introduced structural changes in its approach to increasing state revenue. He urged district collectors to identify new opportunities and work towards raising per-capita income in their respective districts. Citing Visakhapatnam as an example, he said a favourable business and event environment had contributed to higher GSDP growth. He said Suryalanka Beach in Bapatla could be developed on a much larger scale and even positioned as a destination surpassing Goa in terms of tourism potential.

Naidu said Vadapalli Temple was another example of how tourism and local development could generate additional revenue. The temple currently earns around Rs 50 crore annually, which could rise to nearly Rs 100 crore with better infrastructure, he said. He called for greater promotion of local fairs and festivals and facilities that encourage visitors to stay for two or three days. The Chief Minister also stressed the need to address problems faced by small and medium industries, revive closed units and create new revenue streams. Officials also presented plans to use artificial intelligence in the Commercial Taxes Department to estimate revenue in real time. Visakhapatnam, Bapatla and Prakasam recorded first-quarter growth of 38.49%, 37.20% and 34.09%, respectively.
