Adani Airports has secured plans from IndiGo and the Air India Group to shift some flight operations from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to the new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The move is part of a broader plan to redistribute air traffic between the two airports serving the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and facilitate the redevelopment of Terminal 1 at Mumbai airport.
IndiGo plans to launch international operations from NMIA in February 2027, progressively transferring 12 daily international departures from Mumbai airport and adding a new service to Kathmandu. Air India Express is scheduled to begin four daily domestic flights from NMIA in December 2026. From January 2027, it also plans to introduce services to Oman and Kuwait, subject to the necessary approvals for Kuwait operations.
