IAS officer Kumar Ravi, a 2005-batch officer and batchmate of Tukaram Mundhe, is leading a major food safety enforcement drive across Bihar. Serving as the state’s Health Secretary and Food Safety Commissioner, he has overseen inspections across all 38 districts over the past three months. The inspections covered restaurants, sweet shops, quick-commerce hubs and grocery stores.
The campaign has resulted in 531 inspections, with food products worth ₹17.32 lakh seized or destroyed. Fifteen establishments are facing prosecution, while the operating licences of two establishments have been suspended. The drive aims to curb food adulteration, unhygienic conditions and the sale of expired products, strengthening food safety compliance across the state.
