All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora has criticised the Mumbai Police’s detention of comedian Masoom Rajwani and others, raising concerns about the space available for peaceful protests and public dissent. Her remarks highlight the importance of allowing citizens to express their views and seek accountability on issues they consider significant.
In a post on X, Bora referred to several issues, including justice for Dalit students, the restoration of the students’ union at Jamia Millia Islamia, allegations of vote theft and concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Taking a sarcastic swipe at the situation, she wrote, “Maintain ‘peace’, sit at home!!” Her comments have brought renewed attention to the debate over the right to protest and the freedom to question authorities on matters of public concern.
