Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, strongly criticised the Central Government’s response following the reported deaths of three Indian sailors in military operations near the Strait of Hormuz. He alleged that the United States had neither expressed regret nor issued an apology over the incident and said India should have adopted a firmer diplomatic position.
Referring to remarks reportedly made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Rahul Gandhi stated that no sovereign nation would accept such language or directives. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of yielding to American pressure and argued that protecting national dignity requires an independent and assertive foreign policy. His remarks were shared through social media, where he called for greater attention to the issue.
