Rahul Gandhi Questions Jay Shah’s Rise in Cricket Administration

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi criticised the rise of Jay Shah in global cricket administration. Speaking at the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore, Gandhi said that India has several legendary cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev, yet the system had handed over control of global cricket administration to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah. Shah has been the ICC Chairman since December 2024.

Gandhi alleged that politics, money and power were influencing cricket and claimed that people connected to the same system were occupying positions of influence across various institutions. These are Gandhi’s political allegations; Jay Shah has previously said that his rise in cricket administration was the result of his hard work and rejected the idea that his influence was the reason for his position.
