NSA Invoked in Delhi

Amid escalating protests by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), the Delhi administration has invoked the National Security Act (NSA) and granted special preventive detention powers to the Delhi Police. A gazette notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor states that these powers will remain in force for a period of three months.

Under the provisions of the NSA, authorities may detain individuals preventively for up to one year without a regular criminal trial if they are considered a threat to national security, subject to the procedures laid down under the law. The Home Department issued the special gazette notification authorizing the Delhi Police Commissioner to exercise these powers during the notified period.
