The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has issued a warning about a new and sophisticated cyber fraud targeting iPhone users, especially those who have lost their devices or had them stolen. Fraudsters are sending fake messages in the name of Apple Support to gain access to victims’ iCloud accounts.
According to officials, the attackers first identify users with lost or stolen iPhones and send SMS messages containing alarming claims, such as device activation or data deletion. These messages include malicious links that lead victims to fake Apple login pages designed to steal Apple ID credentials and one-time passwords.
Once the information is entered, hackers gain full access to iCloud accounts, disable “Find My iPhone,” and remove the device, making it easier to resell the stolen phones. Authorities have urged users to avoid suspicious links, enable two-factor authentication, and report incidents immediately through official cybercrime channels.
