ISRO Employees Raise Concerns Over Private Participation

ISRO employees have reportedly raised concerns over the growing role of private players in India’s space sector. The issue came to the fore after Pawan Goenka, chairman of the space promotion division, was quoted as saying that ISRO would no longer develop launch vehicles. Nine employee associations representing thousands of Department of Space employees have sought clarification on the remarks.

The associations said they are not opposed to private participation but want it to remain limited to specific commercial activities. They expressed concern that stopping the development of launch vehicles could reduce ISRO to a largely research and development focused organisation. The employees have also sought clarity on whether future space activities will continue to remain under ISRO’s domain.
