Two workers died following a gas leak at the Saraka chemical plant in the Gaddapotharam industrial area of Jinnaram mandal in Sangareddy district. Former minister and BRS Legislature Party Deputy Floor Leader Harish Rao expressed deep grief over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He urged the government to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and demanded an ex gratia payment of ₹1 crore to each deceased worker’s family. He also criticised the government for allegedly failing to prevent recurring industrial accidents.
Referring to the earlier Sigachi plant accident, Harish Rao questioned whether the government had learned any lessons from past incidents. He raised concerns over the implementation of industrial safety standards and the lack of effective monitoring by officials. He demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the Saraka incident and strict action against those responsible, including the company management. He also called for stronger safety measures to prevent similar accidents and urged the government to release the ₹1 crore compensation announced by the Chief Minister to the 54 families who lost their breadwinners in the Sigachi incident.
