IIT Madras Director’s Shocking Remarks on NEET 2026 Paper Leak

IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti has stated that the NEET 2026 question paper was compromised at the question-setting stage itself, even before it reached the National Testing Agency for printing and distribution. He described question paper setters as the “root of trust” in the examination system and emphasized that the breach reflects a failure of human integrity rather than technological shortcomings. Despite strong security measures like encryption and air-gapped networks, insider leaks appear to have caused the breach.

Kamakoti, who is part of the Nandan Nilekani-led examination reforms task force, stressed the need to secure the question-setting process. He also highlighted the importance of investigating whether organised criminal networks are involved in such leaks. The panel is considering shifting NEET to a computer-based, multi-session format similar to JEE, though preparing multiple secure question sets remains a significant challenge.
