Hindutva Influencer Gets Interim Bail!

Delhi’s Patiala House Court has granted a three-week interim bail to Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, who is facing allegations of assaulting the father of a student activist during a protest at Jantar Mantar. Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Pratap Singh Laler passed the order on September 15, granting relief on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 along with a surety of the same amount. The court said Bhardwaj’s conduct during the interim period would be taken into consideration while examining his plea for regular bail.

The court imposed several conditions on his release, including a direction not to discuss the case publicly, make supportive statements or comment against the complainant’s family. He was also barred from contacting the complainant, his daughter or witnesses, and from attempting to influence or destroy evidence or leave the country. Bhardwaj has been directed to cooperate with the investigation and provide his address and phone details to the police. The next hearing is scheduled for October 6. The bail proceedings were conducted in camera, according to reports citing court proceedings.
