Heavy Rains Lash Telangana; Yellow Alert Issued for 10 Districts

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Telangana, bringing widespread showers to Hyderabad and districts including Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Medak and several northern regions. Adilabad district recorded some of the highest rainfall, with Hirapur in Indervelly mandal receiving 5.8 cm, while Tamsi, Talamadugu, Ichoda and nearby areas also reported significant rainfall. Waterlogging was reported at several locations in the GHMC limits, leading to traffic congestion and disruption of normal life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for 10 districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy, forecasting more heavy rainfall.

In view of the weather conditions, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar Jaju held a teleconference with district collectors and Superintendents of Police, directing officials to remain vigilant and ensure that people do not face unnecessary hardships. NDRF teams have been stationed in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu and Nirmal districts, with additional teams ready for deployment if required. Meanwhile, a strong windstorm caused extensive damage in Mulugu district, uprooting several trees along the Mangapet–Komatipalli road and disrupting traffic and power supply after branches fell on an 11 kV electricity line. Officials from the Forest Department visited the affected area to assess the damage.
