Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Pays Tribute to Telangana Liberation Heroes

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Telangana on the 79th anniversary of Telangana Liberation Day. Speaking at the Parade Ground, he recalled that while India celebrated independence on August 15, 1947, people of the erstwhile Hyderabad State had to continue their struggle for freedom. He said September 17, 1948, marked a significant turning point in the region’s history.

The Governor recalled the hardships faced by people under the Nizam’s rule and paid tribute to the tribal communities, farmers, youth and women who sacrificed their lives during the liberation struggle. He also remembered the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the historical significance of Operation Polo in the integration of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union.

Shukla urged the younger generation to understand the struggles and sacrifices made by their predecessors. He said Liberation Day should not only be seen as a remembrance of a historic event but also as an occasion for introspection and reaffirmation of commitment to unity, democracy and national integrity. He called upon everyone to work together towards building a capable, prosperous and developed Telangana.
