The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is planning to introduce a new travel facility for Ayyappa devotees during the upcoming Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. The initiative aims to ease travel difficulties, particularly during peak periods when pilgrims face challenges travelling from Nilakkal to Pampa. Under the proposed arrangement, devotees will be able to travel directly to Pampa without changing buses. The service is expected to benefit groups of pilgrims travelling from different districts across Kerala.
Under the scheme, devotees can charter a KSRTC bus by booking all 45 seats. The bus will arrive at a location specified by the group and transport the pilgrims directly to Pampa. The minister explained that the arrangement would work similarly to chartering an aircraft, making it mandatory to book all 45 seats, with no exceptions. He also stated that no additional chartering fee would be charged beyond the regular ticket fares. However, KSRTC is yet to announce the booking procedure, ticket prices and other service details, which are expected to be released soon.
