The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather alert for several districts, warning of possible rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and thunderbolts. Authority Managing Director Prakhar Jain urged residents and farmers in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. According to the authority, isolated moderate showers accompanied by lightning are likely in Nellore, Tirupati and Prakasam districts. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in parts of Eluru, Krishna, Chittoor, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
Prakhar Jain cautioned that the risk of lightning strikes increases during thunderstorms. Farmers, agricultural labourers and livestock herders were advised to avoid open fields during rainfall and not to take shelter under trees, near electricity poles or beneath transformers. Instead, they should move to safe buildings or sturdy structures. Residents have also been urged to follow official weather updates and take appropriate safety measures until the threat passes.
