Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce platforms, is reportedly preparing to enter the online food delivery market with a proposed service called “Eat-In by Minutes.” The move could bring a new competitor to established platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato. According to the supplied report, the company is testing the service with around 8,000 employees at its Bengaluru headquarters. The trials are intended to assess the ordering process, payment systems and delivery operations before a wider launch. The report says Flipkart is considering expanding the service to five or six major metropolitan cities, although the rollout timeline has not been officially confirmed.
The company is reportedly planning to integrate food ordering into its existing Flipkart app, allowing customers to order meals alongside other products without downloading a separate application. It is also exploring a partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to connect restaurants and food brands with customers. Flipkart may use its logistics arm, Ekart, to support food deliveries. The service could introduce promotional offers, cashback incentives and competitive pricing to attract customers. However, details about launch cities, delivery charges, restaurant partnerships and the final launch date remain subject to official confirmation.
