Fake Information on AP Local Election Schedule Circulates Online.. SEC Denies

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media about a further two-month delay in announcing the schedule for local body elections. The Commission clarified that the claim is false and unauthenticated. It also rejected reports that the election process would begin only after court clearance in cases related to electoral rolls and reservations.

The SEC said the information being circulated on social media and other unauthorised platforms was not issued by the Commission. It urged the public, political parties and other stakeholders not to believe, circulate or forward unverified information. The Commission stated that any official announcement regarding the election schedule would be made through a press conference or press release. It also warned that spreading fabricated or misleading information in the name of the SEC could invite legal action.
