Harish Rao Questions Demolitions in Kodangal

Former minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao has questioned the demolition of houses and shops in Maddur, Kodangal, where authorities reportedly carried out a road-widening drive. Reports say 84 houses and shops were demolished in the area, with the action taking place under police security. In an X post, Harish Rao questioned why residents were allegedly not given adequate notice and asked where families who had lived there for years would go after the demolitions.

Harish Rao also questioned whether court orders were being respected and alleged that bulldozers were being used against poor families. He demanded that the affected residents receive fair compensation and rehabilitation under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Telangana government has separately stated that land acquisition for development works in Kodangal should be completed without delay.
