Tiger movement in the Indukur Range of Devipatnam mandal in Polavaram district has triggered concern among people in the agency areas. The tiger has reportedly been moving through the region for nearly 10 months. Forest officials detected its movement near the Polavaram Project tunnel on the Nelakota–Ramadurgam route. Following this, devotees have been advised not to visit Ramadurgam Hill. Residents of Poodipalli, Gonduru, Pochammagandi, Ramadurgam, Nelakota and Chinnarigandi villages have also been asked to remain alert. Recent reports have also highlighted tiger movement and livestock attacks in the Polavaram agency region.
Earlier, the tiger was reported to have killed a wild boar cub in the Indukur Range. It is also learnt to have entered the Indukur area after attacking six livestock animals in the Foxpeta Range. The continued movement of the big cat has caused concern among tribal communities in nearby villages. Forest officials have advised residents not to venture out alone at night and to remain cautious while moving near forest and plantation areas. Teams are monitoring the tiger’s movements and taking steps to safely capture and relocate it to a suitable forest habitat. Recent reports indicate that forest teams have been using cameras and drones to track the animal.
