Visakhapatnam has been experiencing rain and strong winds since morning amid reports of the impact of Cyclone Arnab. The gusty winds have uprooted trees in several locations, with trees reportedly falling onto a house in Angadi Dibba and blocking a road inside Andhra University. Strong winds have also damaged hoardings across the city. At RK Beach, rough waves have surged towards the shore, prompting concerns about coastal safety. Authorities have closed tourist destinations across Visakhapatnam as a precautionary measure.
Educational institutions have also announced closures as part of the safety measures. Andhra University has reportedly declared a ten-day holiday, while other educational institutions have been instructed to remain closed for two days. Officials have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and asked people living in hillside and low-lying areas to remain vigilant. Fishermen have been directed not to venture into the sea for three days. Residents are urged to follow official advisories and exercise caution until conditions improve.
