Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has written an open letter to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, urging the Centre not to delay approvals and the release of IRFC loan funds required for the Hyderabad Metro Phase–2 expansion. He also requested the immediate arrangement of a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss the matter. Highlighting the success of Phase–1, which operates across 69 km in three corridors, the Chief Minister stressed the need for expansion to meet the growing demands of the city.
The state government has proposed Phase–2 with seven corridors spanning 122.9 km at an estimated cost of ₹38,595 crore. Addressing concerns raised by the Centre, the CM stated that the state has taken a major decision to take over Phase–1 operations to ensure a unified metro network. Despite fulfilling all conditions, including financial commitments and agreements with IRFC, the first loan installment due on June 15, 2026, has not been released. The CM urged the Centre to act promptly and approve the project as a 50:50 joint venture, while also stating that the state is prepared to proceed independently if delays continue.
