Chaos at Mangalagiri AIIMS Canteen Over Food Dispute

A major dispute broke out at the AIIMS Mangalagiri canteen around 2 PM on Tuesday over a food serving issue, leading to chaos and mutual complaints between a woman visitor and canteen staff. The woman, from Kadapa district, allegedly got into an argument after repeatedly asking for curry while having lunch at the canteen located between the OPD and IPD blocks.

The situation escalated when she allegedly hurled abuses, threw water bottles and even a slipper at the staff, with the incident captured on CCTV. Another person accompanying her also reportedly damaged a food vessel. Canteen staff responded, further escalating the tension. Security personnel later intervened and brought the situation under control. Both sides have submitted written complaints to the medical superintendent, and the matter has been escalated to the AIIMS director.
