The Andhra Pradesh government has made a fresh decision regarding the recruitment of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (VAS) in the Animal Husbandry Department. The government has withdrawn the September 13 order that assigned the recruitment process to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). According to reports, a fresh order was issued continuing the provisions of G.O. 52 of 2016 and deciding to conduct the recruitment through a departmental selection committee.
Under the revised decision, the VAS posts included in the second phase of the 2026 Job Calendar will be filled through a merit-based selection process. Applicable weightage for candidates, along with reservation and roster rules, will be followed. The government has also clarified that the procedure is specifically applicable to the 2026 Job Calendar recruitment and should not be treated as a precedent for future recruitments.
