ACB Arrests CI, SI in Medchal-Malkajgiri

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted a late-night operation at Keesara Police Station limits in Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of Circle Inspector Anjaneyulu and Sub-Inspector Gnanender Reddy. According to the complaint, the CI allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh from an accused in exchange for facilitating bail in a case. The complainant also alleged that he was repeatedly made to bring biryani and soft drinks for several days. Unable to bear the alleged harassment, he approached the ACB. The CI reportedly assigned the task of collecting the bribe to the SI, following which ACB officials launched an operation under the supervision of DSP Majid Ali Khan.

The SI, who was deployed on immersion duty near Keesara Cheruvu, allegedly accepted ₹5 lakh from the complainant. When the SI noticed the ACB officials arriving at the spot, he reportedly ran away and allegedly resisted efforts to conduct chemical tests. The ACB team subsequently took the SI into custody and arrested CI Anjaneyulu as well. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
