Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a statewide school bandh across Telangana today (June 23), protesting the state government's reported move to close nearly 23,000 government schools under the rationalisation policy. The student organization alleged that the decision could adversely impact access to education, particularly for students from rural and economically weaker sections.
ABVP also demanded stringent measures to curb excessive fee collection by private educational institutions. The organization urged the government to ensure 25 percent free seats for underprivileged students in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. It further called for the timely distribution of textbooks and uniforms, along with improved infrastructure in government schools. ABVP appealed to school managements, parents, and the public to support the bandh.
