Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy virtually laid the foundation stone for 8,000 Indira Gandhi Stree Shakti buildings from the Secretariat, calling it a historic initiative aimed at strengthening women economically across the state. Addressing the event, the Chief Minister stated that the government’s vision is to make one crore women millionaires by 2034 and transform women’s empowerment into a model for the nation. He announced that the bank linkage loan limit for women’s self-help groups would be increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh and said the government had already facilitated loans worth ₹60,472 crore to women’s groups.
The Chief Minister urged women’s groups to expand beyond small-scale livelihood activities and enter large business sectors such as rice mills, warehouses, logistics parks, solar power plants, petrol bunks, and corporate-style supermarkets. He said the government was ready to allocate land, even up to 100 acres if required, for these ventures. Revanth Reddy also announced plans to establish Indira Mahila Shakti Super Bazaars to compete with major retail chains like D-Mart and Big Bazaar. Highlighting the government’s commitment to women’s welfare, he said free RTC bus travel for women would continue and revealed that 553 buses purchased through women’s groups would be launched on June 5. He added that women’s groups are becoming examples of financial discipline by repaying loans with 100 percent accountability.
