Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Gets Mixed Response; Fans Hit Back at Negative Reviews

Yash’s much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has finally hit theatres, creating a divided response among audiences. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the gangster action drama has received appreciation for Yash’s commanding screen presence, visual presentation and action blocks. At the same time, some early reviews have raised concerns over the writing, pacing, emotional connect, editing and certain adult-oriented sequences.

The debate has now intensified on social media, with Yash fans strongly defending the film against criticism centred mainly on violence and mature themes. The Central Board of Film Certification officially classified Toxic as an ‘A’ film, while its certification description identifies it as a gangster story involving loyalty, morality, brutal action and personal redemption. The film was cleared with only limited modifications rather than major scene cuts.

Fans therefore argue that the presence of violence and adult themes should not, by itself, become the sole basis for dismissing the movie. Since Toxic was positioned as a dark gangster drama for adult audiences, they believe the film should instead be evaluated on its storytelling, performances, filmmaking, characters and overall execution. Meanwhile, the contrasting early reactions indicate that the film’s long-term reception will depend on wider audience word-of-mouth.
