The Defence Research and Development Organisation has confirmed the successful integration of the RudraM‑III missile with the Sukhoi Su‑30MKI after completing captive flight trials. According to officials, the missile weighs around 1.6 tonnes, measures over six metres in length, and can achieve hypersonic speeds exceeding Mach 5. It is capable of striking targets at an estimated range of 550–600 kilometres while carrying a 200-kg warhead designed for precision standoff attacks.
During the trials, the fighter aircraft successfully carried two RudraM-III missiles mounted on heavy-duty hardpoints, confirming the jet’s structural stability and aerodynamic safety. The missile has been specifically developed for Suppression of Enemy Air Defences missions, enabling the destruction of enemy radars, command centres, and air defence systems from long distances. Officials also indicated that the missile is expected to be integrated with the upcoming HAL Tejas Mk‑2 in the future, further strengthening the capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
