The National Stock Exchange of India’s proposed IPO has become a major talking point in the stock market. The issue is structured entirely as an Offer for Sale, meaning existing major shareholders will sell part of their holdings and the company itself will not receive the proceeds from those shares. Subscription is scheduled to begin on September 17, while the proposed price band is ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share.
According to the details cited in the IPO DRHP, several pre-IPO shareholders acquired NSE shares at exceptionally low average prices. At the upper price of ₹1,785, New India Assurance and National Insurance could see returns of around 5,57,712%. United India Insurance could gain about 3,56,900%, while Stock Holding Corporation of India could see around 3,87,950%. Bank of Baroda could earn about 3,30,450%, SBI around 2,23,025%, General Insurance Corporation of India about 33,835%, Aranda Investments around 2,760%, MS Strategic around 2,580%, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board around 450%. These figures represent potential gains based on the cited average acquisition prices and the upper IPO price, and actual returns will depend on the final offer price and sale details.
