The Naveen Jindal Group is exploring locations across nine states, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, for setting up high-capacity nuclear power plants. A senior company official said discussions are underway with various organisations to develop partnerships for the required technology. The group aims to build 18 GW of nuclear power capacity, aligning with the government’s target of achieving 100 GW nuclear capacity by 2047.
The company estimates that investments exceeding Rs 3 lakh crore will be required for these projects. The Jindal Group, which operates in steel, mining, power, renewable energy, and real estate sectors, has established Jindal Nuclear Power Private Limited as a dedicated entity for the nuclear energy sector. The company is also consulting with state governments to identify suitable locations for setting up nuclear power plants.
