Rising tensions in West Asia have created concerns about cooking gas supply, leading to a sharp increase in demand for electric kitchen appliances. Industry sources say consumers are increasingly purchasing induction cooktops and electric kettles as alternatives.
According to Tata Group’s retail chain Croma, demand for induction cooktops has surged in recent days. Sales have increased nearly three times compared to normal levels. The company also reported that electric kettle sales have doubled. This was confirmed by Shibashish Roy, CEO and Managing Director of Infiniti Retail Limited, which operates Croma stores.
StoveKraft Limited, the company behind the well-known kitchen appliance brand Pigeon, also reported a strong rise in demand. Managing Director Rajendra Gandhi said that average weekly online sales of induction cooktops have increased four times since tensions began in West Asia.
Amazon India also reported a significant spike in the sales of electric kitchen appliances. The company stated that induction cooktop sales have increased by nearly 30 times. Sales of rice cookers and electric pressure cookers have grown four times, while air fryers and multi-purpose electric kettles have seen a twofold increase compared to usual demand.
Amazon also noted that customers in cities such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru are increasingly using Amazon Now services to receive these products within minutes.
