Petrol and diesel prices have increased across India after a long gap, adding pressure on consumers. Following the Centre’s decision to hike fuel prices by nearly ₹3 per litre, petrol prices crossed ₹110 in cities like Hyderabad, while diesel prices moved closer to ₹100. Rising crude oil prices and tensions in West Asia are also raising concerns about further hikes in the coming days.
Surprisingly, petrol is still available at ₹84.99 per litre and diesel at ₹80.64 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Officials say lower VAT and fewer local taxes in Union Territories help keep fuel prices significantly lower compared to metro cities. Similar lower rates are also seen in regions like Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
